Players pick up their fire arms and get ready to blast some baddies once more in this fourth installment of the best selling game series of all time. However, if your looking to go chasing after Hitler and Nazi soldiers as in previous CoD games, you may be confused. In the first non world war II Call of Duty, you are dropped into the combat boots of modern day SAS operatives and U.S. Marines.
Story: You play as a total of five different characters, though three of them you play as for only one mission each. They are; Sgt. Paul Jackson, USMC, and Sgt. "Soap" Mactaverish, SAS. The three characters you play as briefly; An unnamed AC-130 gunner, In a flashback, you play as Captain Price, who is normally Soap's squad leader, and you play very briefly as the president of a middle eastern country as you are dragged out and shot by terrorists. The situation is a fictional, but very plausible, scenario in which Russian ultra-nationalists, waging a civil war in Russia, finance a Coup in the middle east to draw attention away from themselves. The United States then proceeds to invade said middle eastern country, and quickly advances. During this time period, you cut between playing as Sgt. Jackson in the Mid-East, and Soap as he runs commando operations in Russia. During the Commando Ops, you will be hunting for the main evil dudes; Al-Asad, Zachiev, and Zachiev's son.
Violence: Call of Duty is a first person shooter, so it is rather violent. You shoot realistic humans with all manor of high powered weaponry. However, blood and bodies do not linger long on the battlefield. There is blood, but not in excess.
Language: A**, D***, H*** and rarely S*** are all used, though not very commonly. There isn't actually that much though, compared to other games.
Multi player: The multi player system is well done, with more than 12 maps, dozens of weapons, and three "kill streaks" awarded to a player getting certain amounts of kills in a row. Weapons are customizable, choose from different sights, attachments and perks to use. additional weapons are unlocked as you rank up. multiplayer is for up to 18 players.
Systems: PC, Xbox 360, Playstation 3, Wii, DS.
All in all, I give it 4 stars
ESRB rating: Mature. Blood and Gore, Intense violence, Strong language.
Reviewed using Xbox 360.
